Yoga for People with Parkinsons
The great Tibetan Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh died a couple of weeks ago aged 95 years. He was a man who suffered very much during the violence of the Vietnam War and the loneliness of being exiled from Vietnam when he wasn’t allowed to return and had to set up home in France. He found that it took him two years to find Peace and Joy through the Mindful Practices of Breathing and Coming Back Home to the Present Moment.
Yoga is a practical way for us to gradually understand how we can move from our suffering and anxiety to peace and happiness. We experience this when we notice how much better we feel at the end of a Yoga session. During the course of an hour we have moved and stretched our bodies and connected to our breathing in a gentle way. This journey has brought us out of our heads and connected us to our bodies and breath. We have become mindful and eased tension from our muscles. We have come home to ourselves and feel peaceful and happy. Keep practising!
